Be aware: Sneaky virus downloads

spamIt is always amazing how people come up with ideas to spam your email inbox. First I was getting a dozen of ‘greeting card’ spam emails per day. If you don’t pay attention, you are downloading a virus instead of opening up a link to collect a greeting card from your friend.

Now I am getting a dozen of spam emails about how I signed up with all sorts of sites and communities and if I please would like to confirm it or change the password by clicking on a link. The first time I received an email like that I thought: “Huh? I didn’t sign up with anything!”. Then it hit me, this is just another type of email spam.

Do not click on any links if you get an email from someone you do not know, or better: Do not open the email at all! Before you know it you have a nasty virus on your computer. If you are not sure, email the person who send you something or give them a ring. Better save than sorry!

Here’s an example of the latest type of email spam I receive:

Account Number: 9795186753587
Your Temp. Login ID: user7510
Your Temp. Password ID: si806

Please Change your login and change your Login Information.

This link will allow you to securely change your login info: http://68.190.224.167/
(Do not copy & paste that link, it will download a trojan)
