How to enjoy cricket a bit more!
The first time I got introduced to the sport cricket was when a friend got free tickets and invited me to come along. I was so bored after the first over and found out that there were still 99 overs to go. Seriously, how can people watch a sport like that for 8 hours in a row?
For the peeps who don’t know cricket; you are not missing out on anything. For the peeps who do know cricket and actually watch it; I got a game for you to make watching the game more bare-able. Take an alcoholic beverage of your choice and:
Take one shot every time:
- The batsman hits a boundary (4)
- The bowler gets a wide or no ball
- A celebrity gets spotted in the crowd
Take two shots every time:
- The batsman hits a 6
- A wicket gets taken
Enjoy the game!!!

Cricket is the greatest sport in the world ever. I love it!
And the reason? It’s such a sociable sport. Nobody - not ever the players - care about the result. You can sit with opposition fans and more importantly, you can drink for eight hours straight.
The only match that matters is England vs. Australia in the Ashes.
Oh, and have a look for “Cricket Sledges”, to see what Cricketers get upto.
But boring? No way!

Hey! You don’t need to get wasted to watch cricket. It’s boring, but not that boring.

Cricket is only good for watching it while drinking beer.

I love sports, but anything beyond 3 hours and I lose any attention I was giving, even if the game is close.
As for me drinking for 8 hours straight, that would be more entertaining than the game, and I know the outcome would not be good.

I have not played cricket yet, and I didn’t know that it took 8 hours or so to play! wow!
I wonder what the professionals get paid to pay cricket.

Thanks for the insight on Cricket. No matter how many times I ask my husband to explain it…I just don’t get it! I’m American. He’s Australian. To me it is just a bunch of men standing around. And, the lingo…I don’t know what they are saying half the time.
“Honey, where’s the pitcher?”
“There is no pitcher, there’s a bowler.”
“What?! This isn’t bowling!”
I’m still learning, and trying to be interested. I won’t give up just yet.
